Here is what we did today!

Lunch/Recess
UOI: Today we started working on a friendship story! First we went over the parts of a story. They told me that a story as a an Introduction, middle and end; a problem; characters and a resolution. Next we talked about what information goes in which spot in the story. They told me that the characters and the setting go in the introduction, the problem in the middle and the resolution at the end. Their friendship story has to have at least 2 characters, have a problem, a solution, it has to make sense and have no more than 3/4 characters. The rest of the period they worked on a story mountain in order to plan out their story. I am excited for what they come up with!
Math: Today we worked on fact families! I gave them three numbers in a triangle and they have to figure out how they are related. They gave me all four of the number problems. Next we figured out how to determine missing numbers using fact families. Next I gave them all two triangles. They had to make up a fact family and complete the questions on the back. Next they had to switch with their partner so they could see if they could figure out the related fact family questions. Finally we worked on questions from the textbook.
Lunch/Recess
Library: They love going to the library!
Language: When we returned they continued to work on their story mountains.
