Here is what we did today.
Math: Today we talked about Fractions! We discussed how fractions means there are equal parts in a whole figure making it a proper fraction. We learned the difference between the Numerator and the Denominator. The numerator: tells how many equal parts are counted and the denominator tells how many equal parts are in 1 whole 3. I showed the class a picture of unequal parts and we discussed if we can we use fractions to describe this. We learned that we cannot because it does not have equal parts. We went through examples of spitting shapes into halves, third, fourth’s, 8’s. At the end of the lesson I drew pictures on board of shape with two colours, the students had to tell me what is the fractions for each colour. We finished the lesson with a shading in fraction worksheet and textbook questions.
Music: Please see Mr. Oliver's blog for more information.
Language: Today we started our novel study, "Heidi." We read chapter one together and the students answered some comprehension questions as a follow up activity. So far they are very interested in the life of the main character, Heidi.
