Hello,

Here is what we did today.

Spelling: Spelling is due Thursday and the test is on Friday. *Spelling Bee is on Thursday!*

Language: Today we talked about audience when we complete a persuasive speech. We talked about how a speech is going to be written differently if it is written to your parents vs writing to the principal. Next we completed a worksheet in which they had to determine who the audience is and then explain how they know that. Finally they had to identify three persuasive strategies that were used.

Math: We started going over some aspects we are still having trouble with.

Lunch/Recess

Math: We continued to review some previous topics and then completed a review package.

We talked about the following
1. A rhombus and a parallelogram DO NOT have right angles. They DO have two pair of parallel sides.

2. When describing a shape they should talk about: parallel sides, number of sides, angles and length of sides.

3. Venn diagrams: BE SPECIFIC! Make sure that you are placing each shape in the circle carefully.

Today the new topic we discussed was congruent shapes. We went through a powerpoint presentations on congruent shapes. We learned that congruent shapes means they are the same angles and length; they are identical in every way even when flipped, turned or slid. We did some examples together and then did some textbook work.

UOI: Today we talked about composting. We read some information on composting and with our partners we answered some questions. Next we made our own composting container! I saved scraps from their lunch and together we made a composting bin out of a large juice container! We will shake the container each day and it has been placed on a window sill. We will wait and see what happens!
