Tuesday October 7th 2017

Hello,

Here is what we did today.

Math: Today we started working multiplying by 3's and 4's. We started by reviewing multiplying by 2's and 5's using circle up. We continued to play circle up with the 3's and 4's and while looking at the board to help them determine what number comes next. Next we did a worksheet and took up the answers.  When they were finished they tested each each other on their multiplications and practiced using a multiplication chart. Finally we took up the answers to the worksheet. Some people are still flipping the numbers. Remember...The number of groups X the number in each group.

I would suggest that you practice your multiplications at home. The best way to do this is flashcards. They can be printed off this website: http://www.timvandevall.com/math/free-printable-multiplication-flash-cards-for-kids/

Reading Buddies

Language: We continued reading our novel "The Little House in the Big Woods" by Laura Ingalls Wilder. We read chapter 8 now! This chapter was long and about the Dance at Grandpas! We started working on the instructions we worked on yesterday but we are having trouble understanding how to write instructions. We are going to continue working on this in class.

Language: Instead of UOI we working on paragraph writing as some of us forgot what this entails. We talked about how we need to include a topic sentence to introduce the paragraph, supporting details and a closing sentence. They wrote about their favourite vacation. We are going to continue working on this together as a class.
