Thursday September 21st 2017

Hello,

Here is what we did today.

French: Please see Mme. Stella's blog for more information.
Morning Meeting
Agendas
Music: Please see Mr. Oliver's blog for more information.
Language/UOI: Today we continued to talk about persuasive speeches. As we were having some trouble yesterday, we did an activity where the students had a persuasive speech outline and they had to put the sheets in order and match the reasons to the evidence. I think they are starting to get it so we moved onto our outline from yesterday in order to fix our mistakes and complete the outline.

Lunch/Recess

Gym: Please see Mr. B's blog for more information.

Math: Today we started talking about ordinal numbers. An ordinal number is place of the number. For example, 1st, 2nd and 3rd etc. We did several examples together involving them standing in a line and determining which place they were in. I also lined up their water bottles in order to determine which line they were in. We did several examples from the textbook involving which spot several letters in the alphabet are in. They did really well. We did some worksheets.

Lunch/Recess

UOI: Today we started talking about analyzing advertisements. We analyzed two print advertisements and one digital advertisement. We asked ourselves several questions in order to break down an ad:

What is the product being advertised
Who is responsible for the advertisement
Who is the target audience?
What is the advertisement making people want?
What are the advertising techniques have been used?

We talk about this in order to understand the impact of the media on people and their sense of selfs. They are starting to understand how tricky companies can be with their advertisements!

Have a good night!

Miss. Ross
