Here is what we did today.
French: Please see Mme. Stella's blog for more information
UOI: Today we talked about ethos pathos and logos and how they are used in advertising. Ethos relates to people we trust such as celebrities, doctors or dentists. Pathos appeals to the emotions such as sadness, stress or anger. Finally logos appeals to peoples logic by providing facts and information. I gave them several ads and we categorized them. Next we watched some commercials and analyzed the videos them for which category they belonged in. We finished the period with a cut and paste activity dealing with Ethos, pathos and logos.

Math:
We learned three types of patterns today:
The first step is to label the term. Each
number or picture is a place in the pattern and is called a term. Next you find the difference between the
numbers and continue until you see the pattern. Next you can find the pattern
rule. The students always start a pattern rule with “Start at”. The next step
is whether you are adding or subtracting.
There is a pattern in which the difference
increases each time. The pattern rule
changes for this type of pattern. You need three parts
1.
Start at
2.
The number you initially add or
subtract from the first term to the second term.
3.
The number you increase or
decrease by each time.
If there is a pattern involving shapes or
pictures the students NEED to create a table.
If it is a repeating pattern you don’t need
to find the difference or state the rule. You simply state the terms and circle
the core.
