Wednesday February 21st 2018

Hello,

Here is what we did on Wednesday.

Math:
Today we continued to talked about Fractions! We used number lines to help us understand fractions and if the are closer to 0, 1/2 or 1. The number lines were benchmarks to figure out how big the fraction is. First we found the half way mark, then the quarters, if possible, and then placed the fraction being compared on the line. We also talked rounding up if the fraction is closest and in the middle. For example, 6/8 was in the middle between 4/8 and 8/8. We talked about how that would round up to 8/8 even though it is in the middle between 4/8 and 8/8. We did several examples together and then they completed some worksheets independently.
Language: Today we continued our novel study, "Heidi." We read chapter two and three together and the students answered some comprehension questions as a follow up activity. We began creating a personal student dictionary with words from the novel that we are learning.

Lunch/Recess

Catch up: We finished working on math and language.
UOI: Today we continued to learn about the city of Toronto and learned about the city of Ottawa! The students had to look through a worksheet and find the key words to answer the questions on the organizer. Whatever was not completed will be for homework.
