Hello,

Here is what we did today.

Juicy words are really excellent adjectives, not boring words such as "nice". After that they wrote a story about the day they met a giant. They had to include 2 2A sentences and 1 similie. This will be for homework as some did not finish or have corrections to make.

French: Please see Mme. Stella's blog for more information.

Lunch/Recess

Math: Today we started our new unit on "Length, Perimeter and Area". We started with measuring in cm. We talked about how to use a ruler, how many cm are on a ruler and how to estimate length. Next we did a scavenger hunt using rulers and they estimated and then measured objects around the classroom.

UOI: Today we made log cabins! It will be a two day process. Today they made the houses and tomorrow they will make other objects to go with their house. They had so much fun they continued it through recess. They thought it was "THE BEST CRAFT EVER!".

Hello,

Here is what we did today.

Math: We quickly reviewed three circle venn diagrams before the quiz today.
Language: Today we talked about similies! First they brainstormed with a partner what they think a similie is. Next I told them what it was and gave them some examples and they talked with a partner to come up with some on their own. Next I showed them a MYSTERY BAG! All of the children stuck their hands in the bag, closed their eyes and tried to describe what they were feeling. Following that, we thought some of items and words to describe those items with a partner. Finally they wrote 2 sentences for each item, each with like or as. They were excellent!
French: Please see Mme. Stella's blog for more information.

Lunch/Recess

Math: They worked very hard and did very well!
UOI: We Finished off our venn diagrams comparing pioneers and aboriginals.

Lunch/Recess

UOI: Today we did a scavenger hunt for information! We read through some pages on pioneer houses and I read the question and the first person to answer correctly received popcorn points for their group. There were four types of housing: log cabins, plank houses, sod houses and stone houses. They had a lot of fun!

Hello,

Here is what we did today.

Language: Today we reviewed what you need in order to write a narrative. First we read a story I wrote about the day I was granted a wish. We talked about the descriptive language and various sentences in the story. We went over the success criteria for their story on "The day I learned to fly." Next we went over different words to use instead of the word "said" including: shouted, whispered, cried, declared, complained and moaned, etc. Next we went over some words we don't want to use including : nice, once upon a time or one day. Next we went over different ways we can describe something using our five senses. Finally we wrote our stories and they did really well! Here are some examples!

French: Please see Mme. Stella's blog for more information.

Lunch/Recess

Math: Today we went over the review and they fixed their mistakes and continued to practice. The test is tomorrow.
UOI: Today we gathered with Ms. Glover's class and we read "Four worlds: The Dine Story of Creation", an aboriginal story. We talked about what the story meant. They learned the aboriginals pray and give thanks for the land, animals and water. If they take something from the earth, they give thanks and give something back to it. They also use all parts of the animals as to not waste any of it. The pioneers believed in clear cutting the forest and they did not give thanks as they thought that the land was their's for the taking. They built houses, farms, and businesses on them. Next we started a venn diagram comparing both sides and we will be finishing it tomorrow.
