Wednesday December 14th 2016

Hello,

Here is what we did today.

Christmas Concert: We continued to practice our skit. Almost there! Only a few more days!

Dance Party: They worked so hard practicing we had dance party:)

Lunch/Recess

UOI: Today we made balloon rockets! In order to make a balloon rocket you thread a straw through a piece of string and tape the string to two surfaces. Next you tape a balloon to the straw. Blow up the balloon and let it go! We started in the classroom and were in pairs making the balloon rockets. However we were having some trouble understanding the results. As a result we decided to be inquirers and figure out what we going on! We paired up with Ms. Glover's class and made a giant balloon rocket in the hallway! We figured out that part of the reason that we were confused was because the balloon, when filled up with a lot of air, needed to be stabilized. One of the students suggested that we attach another string and straw to the bottom of the balloon. It worked so well! We continued to try different things in order to see the results. We finally figured out that when there is a lot of mass, the balloon travels farther but not fastest because more force is required. When there is less mass the balloon goes faster but not as far because less force is required to move the balloon but not enough is present in order to move it really far. They loved the lesson and understood it better!
