Hello,
Here is what we did today.
Novel Study: We read a few more pages in Secret Garden. They are loving this book they do not want to stop! They completed the next page in their novel study folder. If it was not finished it is homework.
Arts night: It is really coming together! It is looking great!

Lunch/Recess
Math: Today we started a new unit on probability! We talked about understanding when something is possible, impossible, likely, unlikely or certain. We did this by completing stations involving cards, dice, coins and spinners. Finally we took up the answers together to ensure our understanding.
UOI: Today we talked about photosynthesis! We watched a video on the topic, then read a comic and talked with our partners to help us understand. We learned that plants make their own food through photosynthesis. The process of photosynthesis is: water +carbon dioxide+ sun= sugar (Plant food) and oxygen (released out of the plant). We created a leave to demonstrate photosynthesis. They have been taken home.

Here is what we did today.
Math: We completed our math test and will be handed back this week.

Lunch/Recess
Language: Today we continued to talk about persuasive writing. Together we used a planner and wrote a persuasive speech for whether or not we should wear uniforms. We already had the planners so we started working on the rough draft.
UOI: Today we talked about nutrients we get from the soil. We learned that nitrogen helps to give plants the dark green colour, potassium encourages root growth and phosphorus encourages plant cell division. We completed a worksheet together.

Arts night: We finished choreographing our dance! Now we just need to practice!

Here is what we did today
Spelling Bee: We started off the day handing out the awards from the spelling bee! Great work everyone!
Spelling: Spelling tests have been handed back and should be returned on Monday
Novel Study: Today we continued to read the secret garden! They are loving the book and how mysterious it is! Next we talked about the setting and looked for clues!

Math: Today we continued to review for the test on Tuesday. They completed the package we started yesterday and took up the answers. Some people also worked on the review in the textbook.
UOI: Today we talked about parts of a plant! We talked about the different parts and I was impressed that some of them knew the complicated names already! These kids are so smart! Next we talked about the life cycle of a plant. It started at a seed then turns into a sprout, then a bud then a flower! We drew a picture for each one.
